    if your intent was a harsh comic book look you succeeded. Just wondering if thye DOF would have been better if you placed the focus on the yellow whatevers in the fly shot.

    That spider, Les, is one of the Pardosa species. Looks like harsh lighting conditions but you often have to take what is available when shooting real life subjects outdoors. Maybe a fraction over sharpened though?

    The fly is one of the Bluebottle family. Possibly the background is a bit on the noisy side but, once again, you just have to work with the situation as it appears and hope for the best. You have good focus on the head which is the important bit.

    It's hard to see at this low resolution, but this looks more like granularity from severe cropping than noise. Les, is this heavily cropped?

    Thanks Geoff it is one of my faults im afraid over sharpening some of them dont need any adjustment but i still like to tweak them , it was on top of the compost in bright sunlight

    Dan i think its a new editing prog im trying it doesn't crop them but enlarges the picture , not the best is it

    I think if i focused on the yellow then the fly would be OOF surely
