Red Kite at a slower shutter speed
I generally take BIF (and indeed BNIF) shots at shutter speeds of 1/1000s or faster but yesterday tried some at 1/320s to freeze the head but allow some motion blur in the wings.
... but I rather like this one at 1/1250s because the shape tells the motion story .
C&C welcome.

Both good images.
We don't see a lot of motion blur in the wings and I wonder if were to lower the shutter even more could you get a better effect that you do here?
The second one is a cracker. The plain background and all we have to focus on is the bird, is a wonderful to present the image.

Re: Red Kite at a slower shutter speed
Your approach appears to have delivered good results in the first image, Bill.

Very nice, was it difficult changing your method of capture?

Re: Red Kite at a slower shutter speed
Thanks Donald.
You are correct about the motion blur - it didn't work too well in regard to the intended outcome, but I was drawn to the one posted here because of the the way it captured the look in the bird's head.

Thanks Les, Greg and John.
John, no all I had to do was wind back the ISO a few stops. As mentioned in the discussion with Donald above, I probably should have backed off another stop.
