    Lone granaries

These two buildings are situated on the crest of a small hill, ideally so that from the road to the east they are silhouetted against the horizon. Makes for a nice simple image that emphasizes the smallness of the buildings against the prairie sky and land.

Good composition, Trev, it would probably work well in Black and White with that sky.

The shot definitely says prairies to me Trevor. Definitely "Big Sky Country".

Simplification is a powerful compositional tool, and this shot is as simple as it gets

    This is wonderful Trevor.
Agree with Greg, it would be nice to see in B&W as well... although the colors are fantastic.

This one is for someone's wall, printed large, I'd say.

Oh wow, I just LOVE this. The conversion is fantastic, those clouds really are a wonderful part of it all. The B&W adds to the starkness of the image.

Trevor - I find that your original call in going colour was the one that works the best for me. The blues and greens complement each other very well.

The one thing that has always struck me when driving through the Prairies are the different colours of the crops at different times of the year, from the barren fields in the early spring to the fresh greens in June to to the yellows of the Canola and golden colours of the ripening wheat. That whole dimension is lost in B&W.

Manfred makes good points. Going back to the image, the clouds dominate more in the black and white and the structure is more lost.
The colors bring all elements out more so

Strangely the greens, whites and blue really serve to enhance this shot in my view so I rather prefer the original rendition.

I have not visited your prairies so my perception of the image is not burdened by reference to the reality. I'm not suggesting one treatment is better than other, only that it is personal preference. I like the B&W because it puts more attention on the sky and makes the structure seem even more dwarfed by the open expanse. If it were mine I would probably crop about half the foreground. But then again, that is possibly making an entirely different image to what Trevor has in mind.

I wouldn't have walked all the way up there for a closer shot either
