Never owned or used Nik but I read here that it was a Google product and, when they made it free, there was something about ownership of edited images ... and Google has never been shy of snagging personal information. Now it has passed on to DxO I can imagine that a ton of e-mail addresses came with it.
I hate free stuff . . . you just never know.
I have bought the product from DxO, so the email is legit, but I thought they might have given some indication of their planned direction!
You must be special Dave as I have not received any such email from DxO.
Have there been any problems or do we expect any problems with the "old" NIK software used as a plug-in with Photoshop CC?
I bought the NIK software as soon as Google took that program over from the originators. I paid $250 USD for the software. Then Google started giving away the program at no charge
Now, I resent having to pay an additional $50 or so USD for a set of software which it seems is no different from the software set I originally purchased...
I use NIK very frequently and would "bite the bullet" and pay the $50 if I am going to expect eventual problems with the NIK I am presently using OR iF there are some new features added or expected to be added to NIK...
I received the email as well. Does that make me special too??
I did purchase the NIK collection recently from DxO. I also had it free from Google and it was working relatively well as a plug in for me still. However I wanted to show support for DxO as I'd really like to see the software survive, prosper and be updated into the future rather than be ignored as Google had been doing.
I'm contemplating the best way to respond to the request for feedback and what I'd like to see from it.
I can't really give many answers other than to say after a recent CC update I was having sporadic problems with the Google version causing Lightroom to freeze/crash. It may well have been easy to resolve, but when I learned DxO had put out a new edition, I decided to support them. I haven't had any issues with my DxO version (yet).
I'm not really trying to take any risk, I'm comfortable to stay on the previous condition. And I have not received any such mail yet.
