I was a bit hesitant to post these here since there seems to be just a few science fiction followers here but decided to do so anyway. Latest model built by me, a Y Wing Fighter from the Star Wars films. For these set I wanted to capture the most realistic image I could, making them look like a real contraption flying overhead. For that look I planned the shoot in harsh light near noon around 11:30 to 12:00 PM. I also manipulated them to get a final film like look to make them closer to what they would appear in the big screen. I think the result was close enough to what I was going for so for that reason I will share them here:

Are these models designed and built from scratch? They seem to have lots of detail in them!
I am not familiar with any Sci-Fi but photographically, my concern is that the limited depth of field in some images gives the game away that they have been photographed in fairly close proximity whereas they would probably be sharp in the films and if they were real craft photographed from a distance in the sky/solar system.

Beautiful models. I also think the most successful of the "in the sky" renderings presented here are the ones with complete depth of field.

These are images extremely creative and the model is exceptionally well crafted. I agree about the limited DOF and wonder if focus stacking might not be a thought. I also wonder if showing the model against a real sky or even a night time sky might also be a way to display it.

Thanks for the comments guys. These models are from a company called Bandai but are custom detailed and painted. Some added details and scratchbuilding is added too, depending on the model. The DOF is a known issue that could certainly de tackled with focus stacking but I was not interested in getting there. The photos are to emphasize the model look and is a way to document it and have fun with it. Again thanks for your interest!

Really like the last one. I shoot macro and so far have resisted doing too much focus stacking because I like the effect of some parts in focus and some not.
Might I suggest that a Death Star should have out of focus areas but smaller craft should all be in focus?

Interesting set, Oscar. Now that you have achieved your goal have considered shooting with different lighting. For example, using a dark background and spotlights on the models

Nice set, Oscar, I particularly like the fifth one, perhaps partly because of the proximity and the appearance of more action. Have you thought of putting two opposing each other in one image, with firefight trails going from each to the other. Maybe I am just getting too carried away!

I did that with my Star Destroyer model which was built with meters of fiber optics for illumination a custom stand etc:
