    Not quite ready for hand-feeding

My wife was changing car-registration stickers when this doe, not part of our regular gang of whitetail moochers, showed up. She was clearly used to people, but wouldn't take a tortilla from my wife's hand. Two shots with the old 40D+fill flash:

Thanks, Brian. It's nice to be able to share space with large as well as small wildlife.

Tom, perhaps you did not pick her favourite treats. What were you feeding her? I was feeding ours fresh corn, and even the most timid were coming to get a corn of their own. I just love the way you captured the deer. How wonderful. Thank you.

We treat the deer to corn tortillas, carrots, and, if we have watermelon on hand, that. What we had at the moment were corn tortillas. She grabbed them and ate them as fast as we could toss them, but wouldn't take them from hand.
