Indeed. Whether or not you did, this makes it look like you composited photos of several birds but missed a branch in the original photo of the one you placed at the bottom.

It's 4 birds on the tree as shot. Not sure what happened to that branch but in the select mask mode, it showed just as is..I'll have another look.

Looking at the way he other branches have formed, it looks as if the lowest bird is sat just where the branch forks and the RH fork curves around behind it. I must admit that I would tempted to clone it out just avoid the odd aspect. Well seen and nicely caught image never the less.

Evidently, the branch didn't get picked up as indicated in the select and mask mode...sometimes tomfoolery gets the better of me in an edit. But that which is faulty can be fixed with the same program...and the world turns once more

yes. It's really hard to tell at this resolution, but looking more closely, I can see what looks like the branch in the little V-shaped space between the bird's legs and body.

I don't know what software you are using, but if you are using any tool with which the software creates the selection, it has to be selecting on some attributes of the pixels. Perhaps it was fooled by the fact that the hue of the branch is not all that different from parts of the sky.

Suspect you are right, Dan. In its more RAW state, there wasn't nearly the tonal separation. I only use Photoshop's quick select, then masking tool. Silly boo-boo.

Great capture. Did you think of asking the second from the top bird to sit where its head and beak were not obscured by a branch

She just laughed at me, took a well aimed waste dump then they all flew away. I just couldn't get that angle, mostly because I was in a boat that was drifting in a slight current.
