    Jacob’s Coat Grasshopper: Sony Alpha a68 ~ Tamron 90mm 272E Macro Lens ~ ISO 100 ~ Shutter Speed 1/1.6s ~ F/16 ~ Natural Light ~ Exposure Compensation 0.0

In sixteen years of tending the garden/temple this is the third time I have seen this grasshopper. Once without my camera. Once with the Sony Alpha a58 and now with the Sony Alpha a68 with a great background and almost perfect light.

The wee beast was exceptionally cooperative and I got over fifty shots. More to come. Shot in our garden/temple somewhere in the Philippines.

Nice one especially with the man made formation beneath the creature.

What a beautiful creature. Nicely captured. John's right. That wire might have been intrusive but it just provides a useful frame here.

Brian, your macro shots continue to entrance me. And I totally relate to the 'buzz' when you get a shot of the 'rarer' visitors to your garden.

I also took some with a spiders web behind the man made web. I'll be posting it soon

Good shot Brian, this image contrasts the complexity of the bug with the simplicity of the background.

Thanks I was trying for that effect. But i should point out that i was probably in error calling her a grasshopper. With those antennae she's probably a cricket

Beautiful little guy and nicely captured. I take it from our comments that they are fairly rare?

In 16 years of living here and 5 years give or take of photographing the wee beasties I've only seen this fellow three times. Rare would be a good description.

But I must confess to a smallish error. He's probably a cricket not a grasshopper.
