Project 52: Week 31, New hoverfly

Not much doing this week so back to the garden and its insect visitors. There was a welcome surprise with one I had not seen before, the Comma hoverfly (Scaeva pyrastri):

The much more common visitors were there too - here is a shot I rather like of a male Marmalade on Lavender:

The coming week looks to be more interesting and I look forward to posting something different next week .

Hi Bill - I like both photos - precise wing structures - lots of detail. The only thing I may have tried to do is tone down or clone out the whitish area on the bottom left of #2.

Lavender is so very pretty and I can almost smell the fragrance!

    Thanks Sandy.

Yes, I agree with the suggestion, and I also need to do something about the noise in the background of both but haven't yet decided what. I've had a look in DxO Lab and with the (old) NIK Dfine but will try some masking and selective adjustments (blur and levels) before doing anything else.
