Greetings from the burbs of Philadelphia!

Hello, all! My name is Gino and I'm a photographer from "Philly." I have been primarily a wedding and portraiture photographer, but have recently taken an interest in landscape, nautical and astro photography. I have been coming to this site on and off for many years for tips and tricks and it's been immensely helpful. After about 15 years of shooting weddings, I've really gotten the itch to start doing "just-for-me" photography (meaning I'm not getting paid and there are no clients involved). I found this site once again by researching the hyperfocal distance (wedding photographers generally don't need to worry about it so much). Anyway, I was an all-Canon guy for about 5 years and then all-Nikon (with some Fuji in there as well). I recently went all-Sony and am still learning that system but am having lots of fun with it.

I've also semi-retired the huge airport roller cases and am opting for more backpack style travel so I can jump on my bike or take a hike with my camera gear and take pictures along the more beaten path...excited to take what I know today and expand it with further knowledge and insight.

Anyway, I know there is a wealth of knowledge here and I look forward to learning and hopefully contributing back to the community!

That's a pretty impressive CV! I do hope that you enjoy being a member, and hopefully we can share learning.

I used to fly into Philly fairly regularly on route to Wilmington DE, but I never saw much more than the Liberty Bell, and Independence Hall, with the odd side trip up to Lancaster County. Looking forward to seeing more from you.

Welcome Gino. This is a great site with some extremely polite and helpful people - worldwide. It's neat to be able to converse with Canadians, U.K. residents, Portuguese, Brazilians, Australians and New Zealanders as well as several other Americans on the same photo topic.

Believe me, its a lot more fun to retired from paid photo work and be able to select what to shoot and what not to shoot. I am going on a model shoot Sunday, visiting the Palm Springs Air Museum on Monday and then doing a jewelry shoot on Wednesday. All for my fun and enjoyment with no worries about clients...

Alas, I'm not out of the wedding game, but certainly turning down the volume a little to spend more weekends shooting stuff that doesn't involve f2.8 or less LOL

Actually trying to plan some trips this year for the sole purpose of getting some great nightscapes and landscape. Might hit Colorado in October! Thanks for the warm welcome!

Happy travel photography! Remember that, by October, some the higher elevations of Colorado are already locked in winter conditions; which might make good photography but, difficult travel...
