You can bet people will purchase one and start throwing their lenses around trying to prove that it works. Years ago my when visiting India got reeled into one of those marble factories and the salesman was demonstrating the durability of their marble counter tops by throwing the marble on the floor and showing that it wouldn't break, so my girlfriend at the time persuaded me into buying one for her and I did so. When she got it home she would brag to friends how durable the marble was by tossing it on the floor and it not breaking, weeks later her daughter was showing off to her friends about the durable marble and guess what...marble table top (about 15" in diameter) in about a dozen pieces.

I was skeptical when I saw them toss the lens; a thin rubber or plastic sleeve won’t protect a lens from impact. Then I was amazed by the price. The nail in the coffin was the reviews on B&H.

Just goes to show you that nothing beats carefulness and it doesn't cost you anything to practice.

An Optech Hood Hat runs about $8 USD and really protects the lens. Problem is that they may not stay on tight enough...

There are a lot of people who think that designing a new product and bringing it to market is easy. They often have little or no knowledge of either subject and spend a lot of time and effort coming up with something that does not work well, is more expensive than the market is willing to pay and in fact might not even do what the seller is claiming.

This group has managed to fail on all three fronts and with this video put themselves in a legally tenuous position by suggesting the product will protect the lens from water infiltration and damage when it is dropped.

When I looked at the video, what struck me is how difficult it was to actually pull the thing over the lens. If it is a pain to use, it won't end up being used.

Isn't that the truth. I hold two patents on class 3 medical devices and the work involved and dealing with the FDA is onerous.
