Ruby stands out
The pentas and butterfly weeds that attracted this hummer were mostly in full sun and the background was deep shade. As I was using spot metering to ensure the bird was well exposed, the background in some shots was entirely black and in others nearly so. I liked this one best:

Well done. I especially like that the dark does not totally wipe out the bg.

Thanks, Brian. Yes, there is that "Elvis on velvet" thing about such shots, and I've been guilty of it from time to time...
