Spherical Object at Hushinish.
I spotted this spherical object whilst scouting for photo opportunities around Hushinish on the Isle of Harris. To reach Hushinish it's about a twelve mile drive along a single track B road. Wonderful scenery along the road and of course you get to see it again on the return journey.
As always your thoughts and comments are welcome.
PS. I chose to leave the people on the beach in the image, as at this size they are quite small in the image.

Gorgeous beach. The spherical object nicely placed as well. Looks like it might be an old Buoy or perhaps a WWII mine casing.

Depending on the size and weight, that rusty object could be a bobbin from a trawl footrope. The composition works fine with me. Nice bit of sky.

Re: Spherical Object at Hushinish.
Thanks for the comments gentlemen. I can't remember there being any explanation of the placing of this object, so I'm not able to help with identifying it's previous purpose.
From memory I seem to think that there was two of them. The other would be to the right side but I excluded it from the composition.

That was what the ancient Gaelic heroes used as a golf ball in times of yore. They were so huge and so strong, anything less was cast aside.

Being somewhat contentious I would opine that the ancient heroes where playing cricket, though given my 'Ulster' ancestry it could just be Hurly/Shinty

You chose a good perspective, Peter, this is a well composed image. I like the way the horizon of the sky repeats the foreground horizon
