The most boring job in the world

At least it was for this concierge on the second level of the very posh One Eleven Congress high-rise in downtown Austin on a Sunday afternoon. The food court below was in contrast. I didn't quite know where to post this, as it is both architectural and people-oriented, but here it is:

This initial image looks a bit flat and lacking in contrast but that changes with the Lightbox view when everything sharpens up and has a lot more of the 'pop' effect.

Thanks, Geoff. I had noticed that the battery, which had been charged that morning, was rapidly dropping, so I was using JPEGs, which I almost never do. They simply don't have the headroom of raw capture, but I brought the file into Photoshop "as" raw and got what I could out of it. The battery failed shortly after this shot, one of the first times that has ever happened to me. I should have put the spare in my pocket. Anyhow, the battery was four years old and out of warranty, so I sprung for a new one the next day.

Sorry, I had the most boring job in the world.

Back in the day when I was an IT engineer we supported a bank here in NZ. When there was an issue with one of their desktop machines we were not allowed to fix it ourselves, we had to reinstall the whole build from a script that ran for almost 3 hours. We were told to take toilet and food breaks before we started the rebuilds because during that time we were not supposed to move from the screen and watch the blue bar crawl its way to completion, watching for any changes in the display to indicate an error code.

I like the picture, but I would try to use the rule of thirds, in this case, to make the concierge more visible. He’s a little lost in the initial picture, and it would be hard to understand the meaning without your description.

I'm distracted by the strange distortion in the image - the verticals are vertical but I don't understand why everything else appears to slope down to the right.

    That's not boring - it's torture!
