    Upside, Downside and Close Up

Chased this Red Admiral Butterfly all around the garden until it eventually stuck its tongue out at me.

Plenty of fine detail. Some butterflies certainly look good with their wings closed.

Great stuff John, and perseverance well-rewarded.

This has been a strange butterfly season where I live - more cabbage whites (mostly small whites) than I can remember ever seeing, but (to date) only one "coloured" butterfly and it was gone before I could identify it, far less get an image.

Two would be my favorite the mix of soft and sharp nears perfection.

Would three be perhaps just a gnat over processed?

Nice work, John. I think the second one works really well. Good contrasting colours of the flower and butterfly really show it off

    Thanks all for the comments.
Brian you could be right. Not sure whether I sharpened it or not but it is a fairly severe crop and that will have affected the quality a bit.
