Now that everyone has had a chance to comment about the new Nikon cameras. How about the new Phase One medium format camera with a 150MP sensor.

Puurrrr.
You can have the Achromatic version for only $54,990US Donald.
and here I am wondering whether I need 800 or 1200 pixels to do my photography justice...
You could always use the Topaz Gigapixel and just pretend
Not as facetious as it sounds, Paul.
A lot of my watch shots are 640px square from back when eBay was less generous with picture size and I didn't save the raws or the TIFFs. 640px looks kind of silly now on my current monitor ...
... and, now that 4K and 8K loom ahead, my semi-standard saving size of 1920x1280px is beginning to look a bit puny.

Remember, I'm the guy who doesn't print and only views on his 1920x1200px NEC Multisync. Fortunately, that's the limit for my desk space and bad eyesight but saving "for the web" is liable to get a lot bigger in the future, do we think?
Not to mention the glorious Rec. 2020 color space that currently can't be shown by anything much, but that won't last forever, as good ol' sRGB fades away like VGA and Beta-Max ...
I digress, sorry!

I see the sensor has backside illumination. Does that help when photographing the Kardashians?...just asking....
This camera is primarily aimed at the studio photographer working in high end advertising work. Output is primarily print medium, especially very large prints, often where final image size is measured in meters or feet.
The benefits to someone who doesn’t print are simply not there.
