    A sprinkling of grapes

I was out shooting some desert type landscapes when the adjoining vineyard started the sprinklers. No idea why just after dawn is the optimal time to water the grapes, this form of agriculture is new to me. May not be the optimal time, may just be when the owner wakes up to turn it on

I like these Trevor! And according to my wife (so it must be correct ) they water in the morning so that it soaks in to the ground.

    That must be correct then!

As an aside, Have you noticed that countries with rampant, overt patriarchies are in really, really bad shape socially and economically? Cause and effect?

Grapes are prone to several fungal diseases. Watering early in the morning allows the leaves and fruit time to dry during the day, reducing the likelihood of costly crop loss.

I really like these Trevor. Well seen and captured. Never would have occurred to me to trip a shutter on it.

That's my understanding as well. Early morning minimizes the immediate loss of water to evaporation giving it time to soak in to the ground but also gives all day for the leaves/plants to dry. Though I know a lot more about consuming grape products than growing them
