    Jackson, Wyoming

The Jackson Hole area of Wyoming is a pretty place. We hadn't been there in 14 years. Last week we drove down from Sheridan for a few days. Wow, was I ever surprised. Tour buses, wall to wall people, traffic congestion, selfie sticks. The place has been discovered.

Is anyone hungry? This was in the middle of a field between Cody and the east entrance to the park.

Great series Paul. I really have to get out to that part of the world one of these days and see places like this for myself.

Really good set of images. enjoyed all of them. Glad you managed to keep the signs of tourism out of most of them.

Thank you for posting your excellent photos. They bring so many memories back to me. I was never in Yellowstone - I so dislike the crush of people but I was in the mountains looking down into it. Beautiful!

    Thank you!

Really a nice collection of well done images, Paul.

We haven't visited Yellowstone/Tetons for a few years now. I also remember when nearly all of the national parks were a place to go to get away from people. Granted Yellowstone has been fairly busy for a long time but it has really gotten rediculous. Loving the wilderness to death.

Nice set. Thank you for bringing back memories. My best holiday ever was a 12 day trip to Yellowstone and Jackson Hole.

Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks are magical places. We're fortunate to have them within a one day drive. In the past we have gone into YNP through Emigrant on the north end because it is closer to my daughters place in Bozeman. Our next dedicated YNP trip will be in the winter.

The best way to avoid the jams of cars and ppl is to go before June or after mid-September. I haven't been there in some time, but I remember times when we were the only car in the park. Can get crowded when the deep snows come in, too, but access is limited to snow machines only, and the only way to get around and get good winter pics is either with hired vehicles or your own machine. Even then, access is limited and only by permit.

Watching a winter coyote hunting in the deep snow is a panic. Be patient; it's worth the wait.

Randy, it's good to see you back. Some people got pretty close. The problem with that is not only are they endangering their own lives but others around them including the bears.

I was close enough. I just stood up on the drivers seat of the truck and popped myself out the sunroof. There are plenty of people who treat these parks as their own private petting zoo.

One needs to be aware of these creatures while fishing. We fished two days in the Tetons and saw one bear. The fishing was not so good but I did go into the Bighorns a few weeks earlier and got my fill.

I recall the bear in East Bearskin Lake campground surrounded by children throwing rocks...the bear showed a lot of self-control. Another incident was the lady offering a bear a hot dog, then pulling it back because her husband had difficulty acquiring focus with his instamatic. We are a strange bunch of apes.

    Very nice series.
#1 has some beautiful colors, it's a great capture of the barn as well.
I would not want to be out there when that thing blows for real tho....or anywhere close.
    Thank you for sharing.

Sharon, I know what you mean. We're right in the path. It is still worth it to live out here among the beauty. I'll take my chances.

    A few more pics.

Now it's back to Minnesota for a few weeks of work. I'll be happy when it is done.

Great series!! I lived in Idaho Falls for a short time about 20 years ago. These photos bring back so many memories of one of the most beautiful areas of the U.S.

I much prefer the monotone version. Great mood; shows 'old Wyoming'.

Here is a shot of Nikki that her trainer sent me. She is in Wyoming now grouse hunting with my wife as I'm wrapping things up at work in Minnesota.
