Living Statues - Green Lady on Stilts

There is a small busker festival happening downtown Ottawa on the Sparks Street Mall called "Living Statues".

I spent around an hour there early this afternoon photographing the entertainers.

Two nice images Manfred. Love the light in both. Lose the sign on the door perhaps?

    Nicely done, Manfred.

When I see these folks I'm always amazed at the amount of time/effort that must go into preparing themselves for a day on the street. Last year when we visited Barcelona there were perhaps the largest number we had seen to date. Some of them with really elaborate and intricate creations.

I edited the shot both ways and posted the image with the sign to see what people thought.

This is the same image with the sign cloned out.

    Manfred,
    Much better without the sign.
Just curious as to why you chose not to show the "feet" or whatever one calls the bottom of stilts.

Simply because I don't like the balance in the shot. I find when I include the feet, it becomes an area that is a bit distracting.

Manfred, glad you excluded the stilts.

Much improved without the sign in there. Also a good choice to leave out the feet/stilts.

At first, I wondered why you excluded the 'feet'. To me they make part off the story. They are a bit off a distraction as presented here (post 6). My eyes are more drawn to the bottom off the image, probably due to the bright light on the bottom. Maybe toning them down would help.
To me, there are hot spots in different places, which seems to make it 'difficult' to focus on the most important features...just my 2 cents as a viewer.

    Manfred,
Having seen the uncropped version, I agree completely.

Impressive captures Manfred, although I think the bright lights on the ground behind her as just as distracting as the stilts. Maybe cropped her about at one of the many "knee" joints?
