    Wine Bar

Not an attempt to emulate his work but viewing a local Hockney exhibition certainly put the thought for this into my mind.

I like the concept John, you have crafted a very nice image.

The point where this shot is not doing as well as it should is the dark napkin under the glass. It is the only part of the image where the lines are not clean and the way it is lying with a few wrinkles takes away from the super clean lines elsewhere in this image.

I note Manfred's point. I am looking at that napkin not so much as from the point of view, 'are the lines clean?', but more from a, 'how would the image look like without the napkin?'.

I think the napkin is an integral part of the image. And the image is wonderfully conceived.

    Looks a awfully posh bar!

My initial reaction was the same as Manfred's - the napkin detracts from the image. It is also seems a little incongruous in a posh bar.

On the plus side the napkin highlights the shape, translucency and reflections of the base of the glass and grounds it in the image.

It is a striking image, John, which I like very much.

Great composition, John. I also think the napkin is integral to the composition. A little touch with the clone stamp would even out the bump in the edges and make the wrinkles less obvious. But for me, little imperfections just remind us that arr is related to the real world.

Like this a lot and am with Donald and Greg on the napkin. The only thing that perhaps could stand a second look is the treatment of the whites in the bar stools which means that they are slightly lost.

Thanks all for he comment. The napkin doesn't bother me. Put a wine glass down on one and it will distort in one form or another. If you make it look pristine, does it look natural? See what you mean about the leg of the stool. Might give that a bit of TLC.
