    Salt

Just returned from a long road trip across the USA from Ontario. We stopped at the Bonneville Salt Flats where most of the land speed records have been set. While there I believe I set a new land speed record in the family van category. Amazing place to visit.

Sure was. I easily beat the old guy in the VW love wagon.

Hmm. Almost looks like a car advert.

While the van gives the shot a sense of scale, it ends up being the subject, rather than the salt flats. I'm not 100% sure if this is the goal here.

I ran into exactly the same issue while trying to shoot the 120 km / 70 mile long Etosha Pan in Namiba. It is also a salt pan. I'm not quite sure if I ever solved this, but tried shooting it a number of different ways.

I agree Manfred. Certainly the salt flat was my main interest but shooting it with anything else in the frame seems to draw attention away from it. My only other image is this one which didn't turn out as I wanted.
