    Musical Director

We recently went to a Tulip Festival and there was this beautiful and fairly large mechanical organ. There was quite a large crowd and little people about it. I wanted to get a picture of the whole contraption but that ws never going to happen. I managed to get the central figure though. C&C most welcome.

I think the square format lends itself very well to an image such as this.

I wondered about the light. Were these the true colours or was there artificial light that is causing a colour cast? If there was, perhaps a tweak of the white balance slider might be useful.

Is that the same as a barrel organ?

George, this was a wagon, about 7m long, I could not get to the side of it but it had 4 wheels so it was quite wide. I believe this one was a dutch barrel organ.

Donald, I had a lot of trouble with WB for this image. When I have difficulty in finding WB I often use the 50% grey overlay which I then change to 'difference.' I then use 'threshold' and finally eyedropper. I use this method when 'in trouble.' I may also have overdone the colours in this image because I wanted to have warm colours.

It was an outdoor event so I assume it was sunlight reflected off some other part of the organ? I don't mind the light I think the warm glow adds to the scene. It reminds me of a conductor in the orchestra pit bathed in stage lighting while he directs the musicians.

A very colourful image. Perhaps apply a slight skew to keep the horizontals but make the pipes vertical?
