Neither DXO or Photoshop/ACR can read files from the new Lumix DMC_LX100 Mk2

Got the new LX100 to replace that which I took for a swim (you don't want to know). Just setting it up how I want it.

I uploaded files and lo and behold, I can't work on them. Both DXO and Adobe saying they do not support this camera. Went to look at the data on both sites and sure enough, both of them don't list the Mk2. They do list the Mk1. Is this a case of a camera manufacturer launching a product before the software guys are caught up with it? Any experience anything similar with any other camera?

Waiting for a reply from both DXO and Adobe. I think I could be waiting some while!

Reply from Adobe:- It can take up to 30 days to get a new camera on the list and able to be used in the applications.

I thought the camera manufacturers and Adobe would talk before launch so that the software was ready for the launch. Seems not.

That is correct Donald. I know when the D800 came out it took over 3 months for the updates to show up in LR /ACR. I had to use the raw converter bundled with the camera in the interim.

It's good to hear of someone else experiencing the same. I thought something terrible had gone wrong and I had a problem with the camera, or the card, or something.

    We are always learning.

This happens routinely with new cameras. I’ll be interested to hear of your experience with the new model, and in particular, how it differs from the old (which I have).

Sit the two together and they look exactly the same. But, of course, the sensor is larger on the new model and the structure, layout and, I think, some of the content, in the menus are different. I'm very much still exploring it and finding what everything does, so I'll let you know what I think once I start capturing images.

I've enjoyed the model 1, and I am delighted to have something that weighs so little and can be stuck in a coat pocket, but I have to say that I have been disappointed by the sensor. I suspect the problem is both the small size and low resolution, but the images are noticeably coarser and weaker in detail than my FF images, and they deteriorate in a hurry when it is necessary to raise ISO. I have been able to create good 13 x 19 (A2+?) prints from it, but doing so takes a lot more work. The new version has 1.5 x the resolution, so I suspect it is much better.

Good luck with your new camera. It's fun to learn the ins and outs of new gear. It has been many years since I had to totally learn a camera since I have always purchased newer model Canon DSLR cameras and except for some extra bells and whistles, I could just about pick up each new camera and start using it. However, my new (for me) Sony A6500 is a new kid on the block for me and its learning curve is quite steep! I am sure you having the experience with the LX100 Mark i will greatly flatten your learning curve for the Mark ii.

Just a thought, Donald. Can you convert files to DNG then open them with ACR etc ?

It is an extra process but it worked for me when ACR wouldn't accept my camera files.

That would probably work, Geoff, if the the .rw2 files will convert to .dng okay.

I have the same issue with my Fujifilm X-T3 - still no official support from Adobe though they did update the DNG converter a couple of days ago so I can get at the raw's to a degree.
