Taken at the wedding of the daughter of some friends of ours. He wandered amongst the dancers while he was singing and getting a clean shot was problematic - hence the low viewpoint. Dance floor lighting and some PP on the BG as a result.

A nice character study John. Getting a clean shot at events is always challenging and you have definitely pulled it off. The singer certainly comes through in the image. I find that they often have the microphone so close to the mouth that there is no separation. Great timing on your part to catch the moment.

I don't love the way the hand has been cut off and wonder if you might want to consider burning it down a bit. It is so bright and close to the edge of the frame that it pulls the viewer's eyes away from the singer's face.

    Thanks John. Thanks Manfred.
Manfred, yes that would be an improvement. I had concentrated more on burning down the mesh on his microphone which was a definite draw. As for the half hand, unfortunately it was that or include half of someone else.

Good portrait shot, John. I can see why you want to tone down the microphone and I wonder about his teeth, too. They seem to be reflecting light onto his upper lip. Maybe that is coming from the microphone also?

I like this a lot. Great calculation on a good moment to capture. His expression shows a lot of emotion and that of course is of top importance. Only nit pick is his teeth, they look very bright and unnatural. Not sure if he’s just that lucky or if they are over processed. Also agree that it’s too bad his hand was cut off.

Thanks Greg, thanks Sharon. I think he must have had his teeth whitened but he point has been made elsewhere. In fact I have a version somewhere with a starburst emanating from his teeth.
