Just in case there are some newbies out there...

I have two odd lenses to experiment with: a Russian Helios 58mm f/2 and Night Owl 75mm f/1.7. I will need a neutral density filter because I plan to shoot the Helios at f/2 to take advantage of the swirly bokeh and the Night Owl has no aperture so must be shot at f/1.7 again for the neat bokeh that this lens produces.

Both of these lenses take 52mm filters but, I have no filters of that size. I did not want to spend a large amount of money equipping these lenses with 52mm filters but, I do have a selection of 58mm and 67mm filters of various types.

The simple solution is to purchase a 52mm to 58mm and/or a 52mm to 67mm step ring which will allow me to use either my 58mm or 67mm filters on the two 52mm filter thread lenses.

Since the price of these step rings is so low (less than $2 USD each from China) that I purchased one of each size. When they arrive, I will be able to use my various 58mm and 67mm filters at a bargain price.

With less expensive rings like this, you must be especially careful not to cross thread or jam the rings onto the lens or filter.

BTW: I also have 58mm and 67mm screw in lens hoods that I can use with these lenses...
