    Abutilon anther & pollen

Going further with my extreme macro's, a bit off a trial with an Abutilon flower, well parts off it....
    Both at a magnification +/- 10x (with a conon 7DII) , stacked in Zerene

Very nice. Did you use a bellows or a microscope?

    Thanks Grahame and Dan.

I used a microscoopobjectif on a bellows. For now this will do the job, though a good solid microscoop would make for a more stable platform, IMO. I am looking out for an 'older' heavy one for the future….

It certainly is impressive, Rudi. I guess this is how a bee sees pollen.

    My complements, Rudi.

They are very impressive, both from a technical but also aesthetic point of view.

Bees see colors different than humans. They can not see the red color, but they can see UV light, an advantage in finding pollen, as they reflect UV light.

An education for me Rudi, as well as enjoying your images - now that can't be bad!

This is where I'm hoping to get to. Question: stacking requires rather precise adjustments at this mag. How do you solve this with a microscope? Do some have automated focus rails?

I don't use a microscoop so far, but I now use an automated rail.

    Hereby me current vertical setup:
1: steel plate on rubber feet
    2: solid steel bloc (+/- 20kg)
    3: Automated stackshot rail
4: A microscoopobjectif mounted on bellows.

Throw in your obviously superior skills set and I now understand why my shots are lacking so much in comparison to yours.

I'm hoping that there is a way to achieve your results with a straight microscope setup. As mechanically UNskilled as I am I'd never get all of the pieces to work properly at the same time.

I like to think that I understand the basics, but I am pretty sure that a more experienced person can squeeze out more than me, right now

I started this extreme macro journey with a very basic setup, trying to 'enhance' the system step by step.
Changes will be made, no doubt about that.

I think a straight microscoop set up is a better option for higher magnifications. Starting out with a sturdy system is a key point IMO.
A wealth on info and very experienced persons can be found on http://www.photomacrography.net/

Brian, You have Capture One. Try shooting tethered and use the software to step through the shots (unless the Sony version does not have the tethering option).

I can tether with my camera but not with my digital microscope. But with the help of Celestron and a few others I now have full functionality with the software that came with the scope. Which means i can do live view tethered but I can't do editing.
