    Reflection on the flood

The recent heavy rains in Central Texas would have caused a catastrophe were it not for the series of dams upstream from Austin created at the insistence of then-Congressman Lyndon Baines Johnson. The lake on the river through Austin was named for his wife, Lady Bird. The flood damage upstream was still considerable, but the downtown lake was able to be kept to a level that only flooded the hike-and-bike trail. The graffito pictured here is on a retaining wall that is usually well above the water line. I took this shot yesterday morning:

Nicely done... I might think of cropping the bottom just a TAD, say right under the hanging branch at image right...

BTW: Is there anyway that Texas could share some of that water with us thirsty folks in Southern California

Or would that upset the symmetry of 50:50 top:bottom? Just a thought.

Thanks, Richard and David, for your thoughtful comments. Symmetry was the reason for the crop I used.

Tom - I'm thinking along the same lines as Richard. Symmetry can be very effective, but in this image the impact of symmetry is overwhelmed by the distracting elements he points out. A strong crop along the bottom will still get you the reflection with out the superfluous material that is sitting there now.
