    Here's how it works

    - You good folks post MONOCHROME images in the thread (please change your post title to a name for your picture) (Click the "Go Advanced" button)

    - When we get 10 images we will attach a voting poll

    - After 3 days the poll closes and the winner is declared!

    - If you would especially like some critique after the competition poll closes, please make it known in the post

    Too easy eh?

Limit of 1 image per post, and 2 image posts per person.

If there are already 10 in the current comp, please start a new thr

    Sun through reeds and weeds

Yes, very new to this hobby and would love feedback. Also, is it kosher to post a photo in this type of event plus a different thread?Monochrome mini competition #66

Yes. We don't stand too much upon ceremony in CiC.

So, you might want to post it up in one of the forums seeking comment and criticism, or discussion, as well as posting it in here so that poeple get a chance to vote on it once there are 10 images loaded up. Personally, I wouldn't support one image going into more than one competition thread, but so far as I know it's not a capital offence!

That's exactly the way to do it.

Once you hit reply and get the reply window, click on 'Go Advanced' down at the bottom right of the window. This gives you access to the post title pane, in which you should change the title to the name of your image. You can do that now with your image above - By editing your post and then going to 'Go Advanced'.

EDIT - Chris: I see you worked it out and re-posted below. Well done. Hope we see a lot more of your work.

    Marsh Overlook

Hi all - quick question ...

I normally resize so that the largest dimention is 1600 pixels, sharpen, upload to smugmug, and then choose a link that is a couple sizes less than the original size for posting here. I posted this one at the max size for links from smugmug, so I'd be interested to know if this is annoyingly large. I view this forum using the fixed format so I see a resized version in the thread. When I click, it gets larger, but I wouldn't know if it's too large for others given that I have a 23" wide screen. Just wanted to be sure I wasn't being a pain without knowing it.

It doesn't matter. Images get resized here no matter where they come from. Here is the screengrab of the image info of your posted shot. You can see the original of 1600px has been rescaled to 700, which is the default for this site. If you right-click and do 'view image' you will see the image at 1600 in a new window.

Thanks Rob! Thought that might be the case, but I figured I'd ask anyway.

Nice capture Donald. I've been enjoying your B&W landscapes quite a bit. The layering in the compositions makes them seem 3 dimensional.

    Thanks Steve.

I didn't rate this one myself as I was making it. But it grew on me once I'd walked away from it and came back a few hours later.
