Advice wanted on photographing starling murmurations
Hi,
I'm thinking of having a go at photographing starling murmurations.
If anyone has done this, I'd welcome advice on shooting parameters, shutter and aperture. Focal length will obviously depend on vantage point, but I imagine a few hundred metres away is likely.
Of course, if anyone has up to date suggestions for locations in Cheshire, UK, that would be very welcome too.
Thanks, Dave

Never done it myself but have seen the formations a few times, was always at a bad vantage point. Have you considered videoing their movements and then capturing a still from your output?

Thanks, John. No I hadn't, but with 4K video it could be an option. If I shoot at 30 fps that gives a minimum shutter speed of 1/30 so I'd have to give it a try. One nice thing about today's cameras, or at least mine, is it's so easy to switch between stills and video.
