    Bought a couple of the old Russian Helios lenses

    Bought a couple of the old Russian Helios lenses to try,both images taken with window light and a small reflector. any comments, advice. Thankyou, Russ

    I find that the depth of field is far too shallow in both of these shots.

    You have a couple of nice settings that you have created and I like the fill light from the reflector, but in a studio like setting, we generally look for sharpness throughout the scene, with the possible exception of the background. The fall-off in sharpness is resulting in those elements being a distraction that take away from the image.

    The Photobucket applied logo is large and distracting as well.

    Hi, Thankyou, Take on board what you have said about DOF my idea was to try and not quite show what is at the back of the images but am I correct in saying I have gone a little to far with that? Also I do not see Photobucket on the images can you say where they are please? Thankyou, Russ.

    All I can do is repeat what I said in my previous post; the depth of field you used is too shallow in my view. For this type of work, the items in the scene should be sharp. In studio work I will often shoot at f/11. I will set up with the background far enough away so that it is blurred.
