I’ve missed my Sony Alpha a68 Tamron 90mm 272E combo. It’s not that I don’t enjoy the Celestron InfiniView, I do. But flowers and bugs are my meat and potatoes.

Our house extension will (the gods be willing) be finished in about two weeks. Then there will be more studio work because I’ll have a dedicated photography area. I’ll still get out when I can. I’ll just have more options.

As always, shot in our garden/temple somewhere in the Philippines.

    Sony Alpha a68 ~ Tamron 90mm 272E Macro Lens ~ ISO 100 ~ Shutter Speed 0.8s ~ F/16 ~ 5 Shot Focus Stack In Fiji

Hi Brian - You certainly have the part of the flowers that we see soft and subtle but the composition does not work for me. The heavily cropped flowers leave me wanting to see more of them and the placement of the flowers so far to the right of the frame without any counterbalancing visual element on the left seems very unbalance to me. Both of these feature create tension in the composition which goes against the idea of soft and subtle.

I was hoping that the blue semi circle would address your concerns... apparently not.

Leaving aside the issue of a crop, which I haven't thought about much, I like your treatment of the flowers. I would probably brighten them a bit, but you have managed to capture textures and variation well.

For me, the blue line doesn't work at all. It just looks like a distraction.

I seem to be a serious minority when it comes to the blue line
