    iPhone X HEIC Photos

How to open HEIC photos from iPhone? I was shocked when connecting the device to computer and found it was filled with .heic images and can't not view them with Windows Image Viewer.

    Hi

Have you tried using the Photos App in Windows 10 (rather than Windows Image Viewer). It works for me, at least for still images. If it doesn't work, you could try the steps shown in this link.

Windows 10? You gotta buy the "HEIF and HEVC Media Extensions". One buck.

It seems that you can change the settings in your camera to jpg. Don't ask me where, I don't have a IPhone.

My iphone x has started creating these irritating HEIC format images, possibly since I had Apple sort out some other settings on the Mac. Apparently you need it for some video formats but otherwise you can change it back.

    Settings> Camera> Formats> Change to Most Compatible.

Just for those of you who need to know. It will then output stills in good old fashioned jpeg format.

If it ain’t broke, why fix it? Not everyone wants to be a movie film maker. Shame it doesn’t have a RAW mode.
