    Capture One 12 released. A self-inflicted injury?

Phase One released Capture One 12 yesterday with "new and improved features and upgrade pricing".

The upgrade cost for me to move from V11 is an eye-watering and ludicrous 189GBP, yet another year-on-year increase and I can't even get round it by skipping a year as the upgrade price varies by the "from" version. The real improvements are few in number, and somewhat less than "must have".

It all makes Adobe look like a picture of altruism.

Yes; I just upgraded, but I am slowly converting to using C1 as my main raw converter. This software (with its fairly hefty learning curve), is probably the best all round commercial raw convertor on the market. I use if for all of my studio work, where I tend to shoot tethered.

It is an expensive package, but there is the element of getting what one pays for as well.

Yes, it has a well-deserved reputation for that but is the raw engine in v12 any different from that in v11? There were a lot of words in the release blurb but not a lot of new/wow/about time elements.
