    M'Lady brought home a new ground orchid

    M’Lady brought home a new ground orchid the other day. I think it’s quite photogenic. As always, shot in our garden/temple somewhere in the Philippines. Note please that rather confuse anyone I have left the tech talk (as bad as it is from me) out. If you think it should look different let me know and I'll see what I can do.

    Did you add vignette or was it just real shady indirect light?
    I guess it looks a tad on the dark side to me.
    I should shoot some of the orchids we have received as gifts of late.
    White and purple with lots of blooms.

    No vignette. It is a bit darkish but that's just me. Indeed you should.

    Perhaps a tad but Brian is into natural light. Taking histogram selections on a couple of petals:

    A petal at upper left: mean 222 sd* 6.2 - not a lot of detail (local) contrast; even less if it were brightened (gamma effect).

    At lower left: mean 193 sd 10.7 - slightly darker but noticeably more detail contrast.

    * standard deviation
