I'm not really sure why people find them any more disgusting than such bugs as flies as these also are more often found on those substances we would rather not mention

It's a bit of a myth that they can survive almost anything because simple bait or sprays will zap them. The problem is that they are clever and hang out in those spaces that we can not reach easily
there is also the reality that cockroach bites can be very nasty.

Interesting sub-topic! Was reading yesterday about color-to-grayscale and how better contrast is gotten from complementary colors, so here's bluish against reddish:

Pardon me messing with your image, Grahame. Just ask if you want it deleted ...

Gee, it seems to be all the males that want these critters splatted or are worried about a bite from them

Perhaps our female membership here are a bit more educated, not so wimpish, and understand the value of these guys in the production of the cosmetics they use

Yes the blue works equally well Ted. I purchased a cheap pack of kids coloured A4 art paper a while back when I did the mosquito series so I have plenty more to choose from

Hi Grahame - We are lucky to not be pestered by this insect in our area unless it is inadvertently brought into the home riding in cardboard boxes, etc. Apparently they used to hide inside the old television sets but now that most of them are digital, I wonder if they could hide in one of those? My guess is yes, probably could!

Our daughter had a Madagascar Hissing Cockroach as a pet and claimed it could not breed. Fortunately for us, she had it confined when the babies hatched. She took them back to college and gave them away. <whew>

Enough of my rambling stories, I really do enjoy seeing your close up work on insects (or any of subject that you choose). The detail is amazing! Thank you for sharing!
