    Stairs

Taken at the Museum Of Modern Arts, New York.

Stairs269A2726 by Oscar Baez Soria, on Flickr

Had to wait a while for them to be empty! I wanted the form of them to be the subject of the image, not any person on them. Converted to B/W.

Great shot, very mc escher-ish. If it were mine I would try and reduce or eliminate what appears to be faces(?) at the bottom of the image (reflections?) as well as just above that and to the right, where the shadowing appears to be blotchy. I don't know if these issues are caused by lighting, reflections, both or something entirely different and does that explain those rectangular shadow gradations on (seemingly) the wall behind the stairs?

I thought about suggesting a crop of the top but the more I look at it, the more I like the darker, denser look at the bottom, lightening up as the eye moves to the top of the image. Some might say there it too much blank image at the top but for me that really seems to work with this image, with the possible exception of removing that bit of shadow at the very top (and top left) so that, above that uppermost horizontal line the wall would all be the same degree of brightness (but in the end I could live with the dark band at the top, anyway)

None of this is meant to be negative criticism, I like the image, enough so that I think if it were me I would go back for another try.

Thanks for looking! Most of what you are seeing are a consequence of reflections since the stairs are behind a big pane of glass. Everything from architectural details, to exhibits and people could produce a reflection on it. Again thanks for your time!

Nice shot, Oscar. I think the reflections add to the "escher-ish" feel of it.
