Trekking in Torres del Paine - The W circuit

    Hi,

As I've mentioned, I recently travelled, with my wife, to Chilean Patagonia, where we did the W circuit trekking. The total circuit distance was about 85km (53miles) that we covered in 5 days, walking almost all day long and slleping in the refugios (camping sites). The landscapes are wonderful and the national park is very well conserved. The circuit does require some trekking experience and good shape, but it is, definitely, a rewarding hike!

Here are some images I came up with. Hope you like them. C&C are welcomed. Kindest regards,

4 - Horses that are used as transport resources within the park (there are no roads in the park)

5 - Chingolo, a very common bird in the area

Beautiful. Thank you for sharing. Not sure of a favorite. Love the glacier photo. I know in Banff, Alberta they have markers on famous glacier areas, showing how they have been receding over the years.

Otavio - Lovely images. This is definitely something I would love to do some day and was one of the places we looked at visiting during a trip to South America early next year. Unfortunately, when things got finalized, Chile did not make the list. Maybe the next time.

    These work well, Octavio.

Ideally, with #4 I would have liked to see a fraction more space in front of the left side horse and all of its feet; but not a serious issue.

I particularly like the glacier because the low sun brings out the undulations and texture in the snow and ice; and I like the picture of Lake Nordenskjold because the foreground rocks and pebbles are so crisp as well the far distance. But these are all lovely images and the variety of landscape and colour is impressive.

I have been to that area about ten years ago and these pictures remind me how beautiful it is.

Hello, Geoff. Thanks for viewing and commenting. I fully agree with your comment on #4 and I had that in mind when shooting but these horses walk pretty fast and filled the frame too quickly for me! .

...It's not that cold there at this time of the year, Ted (although I have been to Texas and I know it is pretty hot!). Regards,
