    Pompeii Victim

    There is a terrific exhibit from Pompeii now appearing at the Ronald Reagan Library in Simi Valley, California. What really grabbed my attention were the victims of the eruption which were frozen as they fell and covered with ash. What does Pompeii have to do with Ronald Reagan - absolutely nothing! However, the exhibition of the relics (including the corpses - lit by various colored lights) was excellent...

    Yes i remember seeing many of these when I visited Pompeii many years ago. I think the archeologists created the corpses by filling in the voids with cement then removing all the surrounding larva. The voids were created by the bodies decomposing over the years. Absolutely fascinating and horrific at the same time.

    Another thing at Pompeii you would like Richard, is the mosaic "Cave Canem" (beware of the dog) in the entrance hall of a property.

    Just google "Cave Canem Pompeii" to see the image. Right up your street.
