Taken at New York City, an architectural detail from The New York Public Library. Thought it was a nice perspective with the tree and buildings in the background. To me it seems like the Stone Lion is the King of this concrete jungle and this image shows it in its natural habitat. Perhaps Im a bit crazy, huh?

Were there one or two lions in front of the library? Chinese guardian lions are in pairs...
The male sits at the right of the entrance or stairs to the building he is protecting and has the globe under his right front paw..
While the female sits to the left of the entrance and has a cub under her front left paw...
If a building is under construction, the lion's face is hidden with red cloth.
I don't know the significance of this but, I suspect that it has something to do with ghosts. Most of Chinese construction is based on ways to prevent ghosts from taking over the premisis...Last edited by rpcrowe; 19th December 2018 at 03:54 AM.
