You want it, we got it-Kensington

I've been bad for the last six or seven months and haven't been shooting much at all. Last Sunday, I was downtown and waiting for my wife and grand-daughter so I went to Kensington to kill time and walked around. I passed one of the neighbourhood stores that deals in used goods of every description. The owner always brings a ton of merchandise out onto the sidewalk, and then spends the day sitting on the doorstep reading the paper. I liked the story, and grabbed this shot.

This is an interesting take on an environmental portrait. The environment totally takes over the scene and the subject is almost secondary to the setting. I think we've all been to stores like this one, even if the owner is not sitting outside.

    Thanks Manfred.
Since the owner was so engrossed in his paper, I had time to fool around with the framing, and while tightening it would make him the subject, I much preferred the "chaos" of the environmental portrait, that almost makes him incidental to his wares, so went with this 24 mm composition.

Works fine. I suspect it would be tricky to find any other angle if you did want to concentrate more on the owner; although possibly cropping to something like 4 x 5 ratio and discarding quite a bit from the right side may produce a different type of scene.
