This was a mistake that could have been awful. I usually put my camera away with the ISO of 320 and Programmed exposure dialed in. The rationale is that if I have to grab the camera in a hurry it is set up for the most advantageous way to get a decent picture...
However, I did not do that when I finished shooting with my A6500 the last time I had it out. I had put the camera away with programmed exposure selected but, I had been experimenting with shooting at high ISO the last time I used the camera and I erroneously had the ISO set at 6,400... This time I grabbed the camera for a quick shot of a couple who adopted Dream, one of our rescue dogs.
I was quite happily surprised that the image is actually quite usable at ISO 6400
