    Iso 6,400 typo iso 1,600

This was a mistake that could have been awful. I usually put my camera away with the ISO of 320 and Programmed exposure dialed in. The rationale is that if I have to grab the camera in a hurry it is set up for the most advantageous way to get a decent picture...

However, I did not do that when I finished shooting with my A6500 the last time I had it out. I had put the camera away with programmed exposure selected but, I had been experimenting with shooting at high ISO the last time I used the camera and I erroneously had the ISO set at 1.600... This time I grabbed the camera for a quick shot of a couple who adopted Dream, one of our rescue dogs.

    Iso 6,400

I was quite happily surprised that the image is actually quite usable at ISO 6400

Nice capture, the lighting on the scene/couple was pleasant enough to allow for the high ISO, what shutter speed did you use?

As John says, there is more than enough light to let you go to 6400 without noise problems. (Which is not to say that the image came out the same as it would have if shot at the intended 320 .

As has been suggested, it is not a low light scene, and even if it was taken at a higher ISO value than necessary, couldn't it be assumed that downsizing to 800x800 pixels would probably suppress any noise anyway?

Re: ISO 1600 not Iso 6,400

This was a typo. I meant to write ISO 1,600 but, my brain to my fingers short circuited and I typed ISO 6,400...
