Totally different image, Brian. Both have their appeal, but the colours are such an integral part of a flower that this subject is usually more effective as a colour image than a monochrome, in my view.

By going monochrome, you have added a level of abstraction, which can be something that works well, but in doing so you have also simplified the image to such an extent that the leaves play a different role and these are detracting from the petals. If you look at award winning flower shots from major competitions, you will find some monochrome images there, but in general the bulk of the winners are the colour images.

My preferences goes out to the coloured image as well. It speaks more. Though, it might also be the crop applied. In the conversion the crop feels too tight, almost pushing the flower together, while in the colour photo it gets it space. I think it would help if you'd share them both in the same crop instead of using two different crops, that makes it difficult to compare.

I think you need to make the leaves darker and petals brighter in the mono. But the problem is that the ends of the purple stamens / anthers (?) are lost against the leaves in the mono.
