    MG TC - Hill Climbing.

Happy new year to one and all. Had a bit of a pause in my photography but getting back up to speed.

One for the motor sport enthusiasts.

Love, love, love this one! Sharp, well framed, and great exposure - and then there's the car ...

Could you please post some technical info (about the car, not the photography ).

Just enough blur on the wheels to suggest the car is moving. That works well.

Somehow the lighting does not look quite right. Was it really that dark out? If the metadata attached to this file is correct, the shot was taken close to noon.

Exposure settings imply 12-1/2 LV(100) - which is shade or overcast, assuming I've got it right this time.

I don't like the roll bar - completely spoils the look of a fine car. Probably mandated by Brussels ..

Thanks John, that was a most interesting read. Made me salivate more than a little but my MG competition days ended in the late 90s.

Ted, it's an essential piece of safety equipment for an open cockpit competition car. I can see where you are coming from with the comment on the lines but beg to differ as it is an integral part of the "story".

Depends on what you consider "right". To me it is just right in regard to capturing the drama and shows off the dark paint + shiny chrome perfectly.

You're right Ted, it was overcast but as Manfred has sussed, I have darkened it and switched the headlights on.

Apparently Carroll Shelby also cut his teeth on a racerized TC -

I find doing "day to night" conversions is extremely tricky, even on an overcast day simply because of the way that light behaves. I generally find that something just doesn't look quite right most of the time I have tried it.

    Thanks, John, that makes sense.

By the way, the image EXIF also had an APEX BrightnessValue tag which I looked up on page 122 of the EXIF standard CP-3451 and wished I hadn't!

Re: MG TC - Hill Climbing.

When I first saw this shot earlier in the month, all I saw were the FAT tires. They made me think "This isn't a TC."
I think what you've captured is actually a TD, not a TC.
I like the shot by the way, even if it's been 'manipulated' a tad.

Alan, the cycle mudguards at the front can confuse, but it's a TC - see the link in post #7 for the car's history.
