...With the cathedral in #27...I wonder if actually cropping tighter at the top might be an alternative option? Crop just above the highest turret so it looks more like a deliberate planned shot than a mistake?...

I have tried the tighter cropping option and, yes, it does help. Of course I should have seen the issue before I pressed the shutter, and had I done so I could have stepped back from the kerb onto the pavement and waited for a gap in the passers-by.
