Re: 2019 Project 52 by Geoff F - 1st Quarter
Just an extra item about my wildlife photography.
In 2016 I was asked to present a talk to the local natural history society about a nature reserve where I regularly photograph and record the wildlife. The result was an hour long DVD.
I have now reduced that DVD to just 35 minutes playtime and uploaded it to Vimeo where it can be found at

Geoff, I'm looking forward to watching the video.
The Vimeo link loaded up okay and I saw the opening scene. The ferns look very much like sword ferns but I have no idea if sword ferns live in your part of the world. (I have one just outside the door where I'm typing this.)

In that area, Bruce, it is mostly Scaly Male Fern (Dryopteris affinis) plus a few Lady Ferns and Broad Buckler. And in the sunnier parts, loads of Bracken which is becoming something of a problem.

Wonderful work! Especially enjoyed the Grey Wagtail's battle with its meal! Excellent and crisp images! :)

Thanks Sandy.
Week 12 - The History Society AGM. This was a bit of a challenge. A rather small venue, at the local Rugby Club, so not much space to move around and find good angles for candid photography as the meeting was taking place. Dim lighting so flash was essential. I'm not overly keen on bounce flash lighting because I often find that creates more issues than it solves and in this case there are some heavy deep concrete beams across the ceiling. However, on reflection, there were a few angles where that idea might have been worth trying. And reflections were another issue !
And this item in the accounts relates to . . .

Canon 7D with Tamron 24-70 lens. 1/160 F8 Iso 400. Manually set adjustments plus a little variation to the flash output compensation.
Synchronisation between computer, projector and audio speakers requires a bit of thought.

Do you remember . . .

Then there was the first public screening of a DVD which I put together from memories of some of our older citizens which we recorded 5 years ago plus about 200 old photographs to illustrate what they were remembering.

Re: 2019 Project 52 by Geoff F - 1st Quarter
Thanks John. And to finish this first quarter here is another of those 'This won't work but I will have a go anyway' types of scenes. A 'hand made' merge of three shots with bracketed exposures from hand held camera whilst kneeling and partway down a steep drop.
Week 13 - I think I will go another way

Nice shots Geofd. I particularly liked the Reed Bunting from week 11
Re: 2019 Project 52 by Geoff F - 1st Quarter
Geoff, I like your week 13 image, the stairs that go up and up...
The branches overarching the stairs serve as a good framing device.
Re: 2019 Project 52 by Geoff F - 1st Quarter
Hi Geoff - a good image to have us 'taking steps up' into the second quarter of the P52 project. Beautiful merge and a good vision of peacefulness and making us wonder what is beyond. :)
Re: 2019 Project 52 by Geoff F - 1st Quarter
Week 13, stairs look a bit soft but overall composition works for me.
