Don't photograph flowers as a rule but this one caught my eye. Taken in the gardens of Alnwick Castle in Northumberland.

Nice shot, what compelled you to photograph, just testing your gear?

Well exposed John. I rarely photograph flowers either but I know the bright colours can be a challenge.

Yes, a difficult subject. There were several areas of potential over exposure but you have managed to constrain them while retaining an overall bright subject.

Thanks john, thanks Greg, thanks Geoff for the comments. It was early evening and low sun but even so, you are right Geoff, some of the petal edges were close to blowing out. Thankfully, they were not too far gone for recovery in the RAW file.
