A Rose.
A bit tied to the house at the moment but it's given me the opportunity to dig through the archives. Some images don't get processed because out of enthusiasm, I tend to select and post from the most recent excursion. In addition, occasionally I subsequently realise that an image posted from a set probably wasn't the best choice.
I don't normally photograph flowers but I suspect it was the colour that attracted me on this occasion. This has the shape of a Peony but I suspect that it's a Rose. Taken in the gardens of Alnwick Castle in Northumberland.

Re: A Rose.
To me, John, the background suits it admirably. Lots of little 'veins'? showing, which to my amateurish eye look really good. Not sure about the strong direct light? - where light is concerned I strongly defer to the experts!
Would be outstanding as a painting, IMHO.
