My name is Ken and I'm an amateur guy. I mainly shoot landscapes/wildlife, some cityscapes at night, and travel photography (which, unfortunately, hasn't happened since the pandemic began). I began my photography journey by shooting mostly slides in the late 70's, then did some B&W in my own small darkroom in the 80's, then color prints in the 90's, and then into digital photography in the early 2000's. I use a Nikon D5300 and edit with Elements 15 and the Nik collection. What a long, great trip it has been! Photography is a great hobby in my retirement. Looking forward to learning from others on this site.

From Indiana hobby type, wanting to learn more about photography.

Hi My name is Roger and I live in Cape Town South Africa.
I am a very keen sport photographer. My passion is water sports.
I use a Canon 90D and various lenses.
My go to lens for water sport is the Canon 100/400. Great lens.
Lately i have experienced problems when photographing on hazy day with a lot of sun glare.
The photos are clear but very hazy and suggestions as to settings to over come this problem.
I look forward to your replies.

Under some tricky conditions, Roger, I find the only answer is to make sure you have the light behind you. This can be particularly difficult with landscapes and sometimes I simply have to find alternative subjects.

As Dan said, post some examples in another section of this site and see what our members think.

Hello Trev. Welcome to this site from a fellow-Engllshman now a natcherlahzed Texan. Passed thru' Northhampton quite a bit when younger but had no interest in photography back then. Later, over here, I got into table-top photography for selling stuff on ebay and it took off from there ...

Welcome to the forum. I am not a social media enthusiasts either, however I personally don't see the forum as a social media platform - to me it is a community of people passionate about photography and there is a wonderful culture of constructive comment and information sharing. We're not about likes and clicks. :)

It's always nice to be able to use an appellation, so if you can go to your profile and add a preferred name by which you would like to be addressed, it makes things more personal.

Hi. My name is Chris. I retired 7 yrs ago and moved to the British Columbia Cariboo. I love shooting nature and am now getting into closeups, no bugs, though. I am a fairly serious hobbyist, but still learning how to see things with potential. I have a fairly good handle on photography, but need some serious tweaking. I shoot with a Canon 6D, 3 lovely L lenses and a couple of sweet vintage lenses.

I found the CIC in a book about Makro photography - but I am also interested to make photos of landscape, day and night shots, animals or plants, all events with family and friends…, my last experience is to learn timelapse.
