Paraty

We are spending a couple of days in Paraty, a small Brazilian town located more or less half way between Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. It has a long history as a port for shipping gold, sugar cane and coffee to Portugal and importing slaves to work in the mines and on the plantations. It was abandoned in the 19th century when other more efficient transport routes were developed. It is well preserved and has lots of 19th century colonial and imperial era buildings.

It's the first time in a few days where the internet is reasonably functional....

I wonder if the first would be better if the half door at the left were cropped out.

Nice set Manfred. Number 3 really stands out for me and number 1 has good sense of depth. Looks like a very colorful place.

I'm with Dave. Number 3 is the best. Good that you retained the bottom (steps?). Many would have cropped.

I tried your suggestion Dan.



While it simplifies the scene, it changes the way that the viewer is drawing into the image.

P.S. - One of the fun parts of traveling in less developed parts of the world is that things we take for granted at home can't be taken for granted elsewhere. The internet seems to be highly variable (i.e. working poorly, if at all, most of yesterday evening) and the electricity just came back on after being down for a few hours...

I have never been there but I am sure that it worth the effort.
Perhaps sometime in the future.
